CHARITY: A former State Department spokesman says many nonprofits are afraid to lobby lawmakers.

All the good work that a nonprofit organization does can be undone by a single change in law or policy, says Knight Foundation President Hodding Carter III.
For that reason, nonprofits should exercise their right to educate and lobby policy-makers and lawmakers.
