United Way kickoff downplays money target

United Way kickoff downplays money target: "According to the U.S.-based Association of Fundraising Professionals, there was a drop in charitable giving in 2007 in the U.S. attributed mostly to the subprime mortgage crisis. Although two-thirds of charities raised more money in 2007 than they did in 2006, the size of those gains dropped dramatically, according to AFP figures released in April at its 45th International Conference on Fundraising in San Diego."
