United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area is celebrating its second straight record-breaking fundraising year after local and national donors brought in nearly $23 million during the 2008-09 fundraising drive.
A steady wave of donations exceeded this year’s $21.4 million goal and raised a record-breaking $22.6 million, which spokeswoman Mary Pendarvis said topped the previous record of $20.7 million, set during the 2007-08 drive."
