This is a good case study of board members not understanding their roles and responsibilities and not doing good due diligence in examining the organizations finances. In these economic times it is incumbent on all nonprofit boards to pay particularly close attention to this issue. The mission for which individuals devote their time talent and treasure deserve careful handling to ensure they are there in the future to continue to serve.
