How Stanford Raised $6-Billion in Hard Times - Prospecting - The Chronicle of Philanthropy- Connecting the nonprofit world with news, jobs, and ideas: Stanford’s announcement today that it has raised $6.2-billion in a campaign with a goal of $4.3-billion seems all the more remarkable given that the drive took place amid a severe recession.

Martin Shell, Stanford’s vice president of development, says that the university has received more than 80 percent, or about $5-billion, of the money pledged by donors.
