INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Chancellor and Executive Vice President Charles R. Bantz have announced the appointment of Gene Tempel to be the founding dean of IU's new School of Philanthropy, subject to the approval of the IU Board of Trustees at its next business meeting Oct. 12.

Gene's return to national leadership for philanthropy is a welcomed announcement. Philanthropy, nonprofits and fundrasing need his vision, humility and resolve.
