Nonprofit group eyes Native American lands | CapeCodOnline.com

Nonprofit group eyes Native American lands | CapeCodOnline.com: "MASHPEE – Members of the Wampanoag nation and other Massachusetts Native Americans are launching a new effort to protect open space in ancestral homelands.

The Native Land Conservancy is a nonprofit organization that, like other land trusts such as the Barnstable Land Trust or the Orleans Conservation Trust, will buy or accept donations of land to save it from development. Unlike others on the Cape, however, this one will be run by Native Americans and will use the land to preserve their culture and traditions."
